Emotional Freedom Technique EFT
EFT is one form of Energy Medicine. It aims to facilitate and enhance healing through the mind–body connection. You do not have to believe in EFT in order for it to be effective. EFT uses and stimulates acupressure points which are stimulated through a sequence of tapping. When the points are stimulated while a specific problem or ailment is held in mind, the process releases blocked energy by short-circuiting the body–mind energy blockage.
It is believed that EFT’s effectiveness is linked to the connective tissue in the body. The tapping causing a cascade effect to take place physiologically which sends a “comfort” or “no-stress” signal throughout the entire body. It is well-known that suppressed memory, repressed thoughts, negative experiences, trauma, and the like get stored and energetically trapped in the body. This can result in health problems as well as the inability to “let go” of mental and emotional problems, despite the conscious mind’s desire to do so. EFT releases and discharges the stored pain, trauma, and stress in a safe, comfortable, and effective way.
EFT is used for a wide variety of purposes. You can apply it directly to health problems, such as pain, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, and headaches. It is equally effective at helping with emotional and mental problems as well, such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, anger and frustration, worry, fear and phobias, self-doubt, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and negativity.
One benefit of EFT that is often overlooked is its ability to put the client/patient into a proactive response to their pain, difficulty, or problem. The technique is direct, efficient, and easy to use. In some cases, it has shown itself to be the only technique capable of providing instant relief to individuals suffering extreme physical, emotional, or mental pain and trauma.
Biofeedback
Biofeedback is used for a number of different purposes, including pain control, stress reduction, anxiety release, mental focusing, and relaxation. Biofeedback is a method that teaches and demonstrates how a person can effectively use their mind to create a change in their body. As the name implies, biofeedback measures the body's physiological response to stimuli (in this case, thoughts and feelings, mental and emotional stimuli). The feedback (knowing how the body responds to certain thoughts) is used to focus and reinforce the thought processes that most directly support the client's objectives or goals. Through biofeedback, a person can quickly become aware of the thinking that produces an affect upon the body. This includes thoughts that produce a calming, relaxing affect, as well as identification of the specific thoughts that have the opposite affect—thoughts that place stress or tension on the body. Biofeedback works very well with analytical people. It can effectively deconstruct patterns of mental complexity that are placing stress on the mind and body. The premise of biofeedback is that thought triggers emotion which together affect and influence the body's physiological state and well-being.
Biofeedback is most commonly used for stress reduction and management, although it is also very helpful for a variety of different reasons as well. It is used to improve health, as well as performance. Through direction and a little bit of practice, a client can develop the means to use their thoughts to directly support their goals and objectives.
During a biofeedback session, Mark will provide you instruction on a variety of methods and techniques used to promote health and enhance performance, such as, progressive relaxation, healing visualization, breath awareness, mental focusing, conscious detachment, inner landscape technique, and more. Using biofeedback alongside the instruction of these techniques allows you to discover the exact methods that are most effective for you. By knowing which mental scenes, images, thoughts, and inner pictures produce the greatest relaxation for you, it becomes easier to enter a deep state of relaxation at will (useful for a variety of medical procedures, sleep disorder, reducing stress, lessening the severity of a panic/anxiety attack).
Working with Mark using biofeedback, you get to uncover the thoughts that hold an unconscious "charge" to them. This information is useful, for it will show what is being unknowingly internalized that produces a stress or anxiety response in the body. Clearing these charged thoughts and thought patterns promotes self-awareness and strengthens physical health and overall well-being.
Biofeedback can help with many health-related issues and problems, including:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Pain control
- Insomnia
- Tension headaches
- Migraines
- Arthritis
- Depression
- Hyperactivity
- Lowering blood pressure
